An Example of Gold Leaf on Wood

I built this two-piece nameplate for my own boat. I first laid out the image on 1x12 cedar, cutting the outline shape to fit around the rudder, chainplates and exhaust port. I then sandblasted it. Then I painted the letters in gold paint and the border in black. Finally I gilded the letters with 22-karat gold. The result is striking, to say the least.
