Pelican InnMuir Beach, California42" x 54"; airbrush and artbrush on laminated redwood; welded steel frame. The original version of this work of art was damaged by a storm (on top of twenty-odd years of weathering) and the management called me in to do what I could. My take on it: redo it. I photographed the original, then sanded down the wood, treated it with penetrating epoxy, and painted it, using airbrush, sign brush and art brush as appropriate. Next I redid the hanging panels below the main sign. The original steel frame was inadequate, so I welded another, stronger one, then rehung the sign. Back to Scott Leslie’s Portfolio page |
